Quilting for Awareness
My quilting for awareness project is the main focus of my Girl Scout Gold Award Project. I have designed a pink ribbon quilt adapted from the pink ribbon block of Marcia Hohn. Using donated material, I assembled kits with enough material to make one block, instructions, and breast health information. I handed these kits out throughout the community by attending local health fairs and visiting public places.
Everyone who quilts a block receives information and awareness from the printed fact sheet in the kit. Once the quilts are assembled, they will be hung in public places. The display of the pink ribbon will spread awareness. Information sheets will be available by the quilt to further promote breast cancer prevention and early detection. Once the quilts have been displayed for a time, they will be donated to breast cancer survivors.
So far, I have just about enough finished blocks to make 1 quilt. I would like to make many more, however, so that the breast cancer awareness message can be spread throughout and not just at one location. I need your help to educate people on breast cancer awareness. Please consider becoming involved with my project by sewing a pink ribbon block together.
Request a kit to use donated material.
Please keep in mind that
the donated material is limited.
Don't however let a lack of material keep you from becoming involved in my project.
